The semantic representation of text in the brain does not depend on whether it is read or listened to. This was discovered by American scientists who asked participants in their fMRI experiment to read and listen to the same story, and then compared their brain activity: it turned out that, regardless of modality, the semantic map of the brain looks approximately the same.
