Scientists have created an artificial brain from silver and forced it to learn

A tiny, self-organized network of artificial synapses remembers its experiences and can solve simple problems. Its creators hope that someday, based on this artificial brain, devices will be created that are as energy efficient as the computing power of the brain. In general, brains, if we ignore their achievements in thinking and problem solving, are perfect in their energy efficiency. To function, the brain needs as much energy as a 20-watt incandescent lamp absorbs. And one of the most powerful and fastest supercomputers in the world, the K Computer in Kobe, Japan, consumes up to 9.89 megawatts of energy—about the same as 10,000 homes. But in 2013, even with that energy, it took the machine 40 minutes to simulate 1% of the human brain's activity for 1 second.
